Rice water: Benefits and how to use it

Well, you can easily find dozens of brands, offering skin whitening creams, gels, serums etc. But I would suggest trying rice water first. You know why? Because skin whitening using rice water was a traditional method originating in Asia hundreds of years ago. And it was indeed effective!

Rice water does not provide a whitening effect only. It also improves the overall appearance of the skin, making it softer and blemish-free.

Rice water preparation

Please note that this is not the water you wash your rice with before cooking. You’ll need to soak some rice for about an hour without boiling or cooking it. Then, you’ll just need a cotton swab, soak it in the rice water, and apply generously.

*You can store the rice water in the fridge for no more than 5 days!

Rice water provides multiple benefits for the skin

Darker skin tone, sun spots, acne scars, uneven tan and other imperfections will become less visible after every application of the miracle ‘rice toner’.

Before applying rice water to the skin, it should be thoroughly clean. Let the substance get completely absorbed through the skin pores, this will take no more than a couple of minutes.

Remember that the effect will come gradually. You won’t be able to achieve miracle results with a single application. Your complexion will become fairer within a few weeks, while common skin problems, such as hyper-pigmentation and acne scars will become less visible.

Another benefit of rice water is that it tightens the pores, this is why the technique is very beneficial for those suffering from eczema. It reduces the irritation, redness, and discomfort - not permanently but you’ll be able to experience some relief for about a couple of hours after applying rice water.

And one more thing - it is rich in vitamin C and A, phenols, and flavonoids that fight free radicals. Erm, free radicals are the reason our skin ages and our skin cells regenerate slowly.

So, I highly recommend trying the rice-water-method before buying a skin whitening cream as they usually contain hydroquinone, mercury or steroids and these are.. literally toxic. Or you should at least check the ingredients very carefully and try choosing something.. less aggressive.

Hope I helped!
